We're Democratic Artists as in Democratic Party (US).  We will not be accepting work that attacks Senator Sanders, Secretary Clinton and Governor O'Malley. Feel free to submit artwork in support of your candidate, as long as it does NOT attack the other two candidates.

Hello folks.

I've seen this group have old journal entries for a while. If you'd please like to write some journal entries feel free. Don't forget to continue to submit art as well! Loving the stuff I've been seeing lately!

A little plug-in: my friend is still trying to get writers and graphic designers for his Democratic/Liberal Blog. If you're interested please e-mail her at thesussexdemocrat@gmail.com. She's looking for help to cover national issues, or major issues going on in other states (Voter ID, Strict Anti-Abortion Bills/Laws, etc). So this isn't just restricted to her area of New Jersey. Please, e-mail her!

You've probably heard that members of the Ugandan Parliament are, once again, moving forward with their Anti-Homosexuality Bill -- better known as the "Kill the Gays" bill because of its draconian consequences for LGBT Ugandans and their allies. The bill calls for imprisonment or death to those who are LGBT, imprisonment for those who help LGBT folks, and even imprisonment for those who know that someone is LGBT and don't report them to the authorities.

Where did this bill come from? The United States.
This bill was created and the fires beneath it were stoked by American right-wing evangelicals like Scott Lively, Rick Warren, Lou Engle, and many others. Though some have now backtracked from their role in moving this bill forward, many are pressing forward -- delighted at their success.. The worst part is that there are also American politicians who are connected through a secretive group called "The Family" who have the power to put an end to this bill, but refuse to do so.

This bill just hit the docket for consideration, and will come up for debate and a vote very shortly. Will you join our call to American politicians to denounce the bill and spare LGBT Ugandans from almost-certain death?

Unfortunately, this bill is no joke. The consequences for LGBT Ugandans are severe, and we've been in contact with several groups that have organizers on the ground right now. There's a very small window of opportunity right now to publicly call out those American elected officials who could -- if they chose to do so -- step in with their friends at the Ugandan Parliament and ask them to kill this bill.

The pressure is on to save our LGBT Ugandan sisters and brothers from the harm that American evangelicals and politicians have heaped on them. Can you take just two minutes to sign this petition, which we will deliver to the American politicians who can step in right away and put a stop to this horrifying bill?

Thank you -- and please share this petition as widely as possible in order to shout the truth through the halls of Congress and to let our sisters and brothers in Uganda know that we have their backs...

For equality,

Felipe, Heather, Robin, and the GetEQUAL community

I'd just like to note "The Family" does in fact refer to Focus on the Family/The Family Institute and its branches, such as the state ones like The Illinois Family Institute. I'd also like to remind everyone Exodus International was also backing this bill.
These are hateful organizations that want to kill people.
President Obama has won re-election at 11:12pm Eastern Standard Time. President Obama swept all but one swing state. Discuss!

Also, Democrats gain in the Senate. Clarie McCaskill, Tammy Baldwin, Elizabeth Brown, and John Tester won their seats last night.
Thoughts on Romney's VP Pick?

Ryan's defunded everything from Medicaid to Planned Parenthood and goodness knows what else!
